Pastor

Pastor Ken Cross
is a father of five, and husband of one, for 28 years. Ken
has made some good decisions in his life, one if not the
best was marrying Lynn. Together they have five children;
Katie McKenzie, who is living in Columbia, SC with her
husband Michael, Oliver is a recent graduate of Wingate
University, Margaret is a junior at Covenant College, Karen
is a freshman at Gaston Community College and Rebekah is
finally in the 9th grade.
He has pastored and ministered for 30 years in five states
and numerous foreign countries. Sixteen years ago, Ken
Cross started Sandhills Presbyterian Church in Southern
Pines, NC and it grew to an average attendance of 450
before he left in March of 2008. Before coming to NC,
Ken pastored in Alabama, California, Mississippi and
Georgia.
For many years,
Ken has faithfully been a member and has also been chairman
of the MNA (church planting) committee of this Presbytery.
In those years, he has seen, along with others on the
committee, churches in the various stages of church growth;
from infancy to mission churches, from mission churches to
full-fledged organized and growing bodies of Christ,
healthy and unhealthy churches. He believes that God
greatly uses fledgling churches to bring revival and
salvation to people that might not ever have the chance to
hear the Gospel. Now Central Carolina Presbytery has
called Ken and his family to start another church, this one
from scratch, ADVENT CHURCH.

1. What is your
favorite band/artist? My Iphone
has an eclectic assortment from country, bluegrass, soul,
contemporary Christian, but I guess my favorite would be
between Rascal Flatts and Josh Groban.
2. If you were
stranded on a deserted island with 3 people, who would they
be and why? I read Nik’s
first, so not to repeat but also to show my generation:
MacGyver with his swiss army knife and duct tape, my wife
Lynn & MacGyver’s wife - who wants 3 men
and one lady?
3.
What
is your favorite restaurant in Charlotte?
I am partial
to Mom & Pop hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon places.
However, by far my favorites are P. F. Changs or Jim &
Nick’s BBQ. But I am willing to find more if you will go
with me!
4. Favorite book
(aside from the Bible)?As a boy I
loved Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s shorts stories of Sherlock
Holmes. I still do! They have actually helped me study the
Bible!
5.Biggest pet
peave? Three
tie for the biggest - ugly church signs, dishonesty in
myself and others, and the status
quo.
